The Dominique Portet Winery is in the heart of the Yarra Valley, between Coldstream and Healesville. From the centre of Melbourne, it takes approximately one hour to travel to the Vineyard. The Dominique Portet Winery has a Mediterranean atmosphere complete with an area for Petanque.
The Portet family holds possibly an unmatched record in the Australian wine industry. Dominique is the ninth generation in his family to be committed to winemaking, yet he is the first to establish a winery and label bearing the family name.
The son of André Portet, vineyard & winery manager of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild in Pauillac, Dominique’s training began at one of the world’s most illustrious red wine properties.
The year 2000 would see the beginning of the Dominique Portet label, looking around for a suitable winery site he decided on the Yarra Valley, attracted to its quality and style and where he found fragrance and structure reminiscent of Bordeaux.
The cellar door is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm.
They have a range of tours and tasting for your enjoyment, including a private tasting with Dominique and much more.
